Our Story
Founded in the 1961/62 season by Neil McConchie, the City Colts Cricket Club was established with a clear vision: to develop young cricketers in a senior environment while remaining firmly youth-focused.

Starting with limited resources but strong determination, the club secured its first ground, built its own facilities largely through volunteer effort, and quickly became known for its resilience and community spirit.

From transforming a neglected golf links into a home oval, to sharing and later developing the Barr Reserve into a lasting base, the club’s history is marked by innovation, self-reliance, and a commitment to growth.
Over more than six decades, City Colts has celebrated major milestones including facility expansions, representative matches, charity events, reunions, and a 50th anniversary that honoured a Team of the Half Century—cementing its place as a proud and enduring part of the local cricketing community.
